Do you drink out of your water bowl enough? OK, so itâs me drinking out of a water bowl â water is good for me, good for your patients and good for you, too.
Most humans donât drink enough water, and can feel cranky, headachy or just mentally exhausted. You could keep a water bowl on your desk â maybe a better idea is to keep a big jug of water there and make it your goal to finish the jug each day.
You might be shocked to see how much easier your days feel when youâre well-hydrated.

Do you wish you had more courage?
Iâm pretty courageous now but I remember when I was just a little puppy how big, sudden sounds scared me. I got more courage and you can too.
The more days you live, the more different experiences you have, the more courage youâll develop. Part of courage is the willingness to try again, the willingness to learn and the willingness to say youâre sorry if your actions hurt someone else.
It takes a lot of courage to be authentic, open and caring â and since you are the definition of a caring person, youâre already more courageous than a lot of people.
When you have courage in the small things youâll trust that you also have courage in the big, sudden scary things too.

When something is hard, do you give up or do you let go?
Those may sound like the same things but thereâs a vast difference. When you give up you usually feel defeated and deflated â youâve given it your best and youâve been bested. Thatâs not a powerful or successful way to feel.
Instead, try letting go â say things to yourself like âthings have worked out before and this probably will, tooâ and let it go.
Give it to your deity of choice to take care of and focus your energy on other things. This allows you to leave space for a solution to come to you, and frees your talents up to be used elsewhere.

Do you do the same exercise routine over and over and over?
Mom got me a treadmillâŚboooooooring! There arenât any squirrels to chaseâŚthat would make it fun!
Anyway, if you do the same workout every time your body will get used to it and it wonât be as effective. The good news is that you can probably do it without thinking about it â the bad news is, your muscles probably want you to switch things up.
Think about other workouts you could do and plan to do a new one this week. Do the new workout only one day â do your normal one the rest of the time. Then maybe think of another different workout you could do and add that workout one day next week.
Thatâll give your body three different workouts and thatâs enough to make any body happy!

Do you ever beat yourself up for taking shortcuts?
Maybe you didnât feel like cooking and picked up a rotisserie chicken and a couple of ready-to-eat side dishes? MmmmmmmâŚchiiiickenâŚcan I come over for dinner?
Seriously, you work hard, so if that little voice in your head is saying youâre a bad mom or bad partner because you arenât cooking wholesome meals from scratch every single night, use that mental stop sign weâve talked about before.
Your clients probably think of you as SuperWoman â that doesnât mean you have to hold yourself to that impossible standard.
When you take shortcuts where you can, you give yourself more time to enjoy your family, and youâll feel more like enjoying them too!

When was the last time you had a pedicure?
To be honest, I donât get why humans love those things so muchâŚI hate it when Mom grinds my nails and cuts the hair between my toesâŚugh!!
For most humans pedicures are seen as luxuries â you donât treat yourself to one very often because it might feel self-indulgent. Treating yourself is just what Mom orders, and even though sheâs not a doctor, she is a wellbeing expert so you can trust what she says.
Treat yourself to something indulgent â a pedicure, a massage, a facial, a new Fendi bag â whatever feels good to you. And then remember to admire the results often and bask in that good, taking-care-of-you feeling.

Is there a song with lyrics that inspire you?
Mom named me after the Kacey Musgraves song, Follow Your Arrow. Itâs a song that talks about how other people will judge you, no matter what you do, so you might as well do what makes you happy.
Was there ever a time in your life where you realized that you couldnât possibly be what everyone wanted you to be? This person wanted you to be one way, another person wanted you to be another way, and so on?
Because youâre a caring person itâs easy to try to be what other people want you to be â just donât give up who you are at your core, no matter what. Follow your arrow because thatâs the only way to live the life you were born to live.

Are you surrounded by strong people or weak ones?
A great way to discover the answer is to hear how they talk to others. Strong people offer uplifting comments, offer help in a non-condescending way and talk well about their colleagues even when theyâre not around. Weak people gossip, tattle-tale and belittle their co-workers.
If youâre the leader, itâs up to you to help the weak people grow stronger. Everyone can grow and change, and if youâre working with people willing to grow, then helping them grow stronger helps strengthen your team too.

Do you get irritated at other drivers when youâre driving?
I look out the window and sometimes see the driver in the car beside us yelling and pounding on his steering wheel. Scary â glad mom doesnât do that!!
Humans take things so personally sometimes â if you get mad at other drivers, you might be thinking things like, âhe just cut me off!!â or âtheyâre so slow that I could walk faster!!â
Usually, what youâre doing is taking the other driverâs actions personally, like theyâre out to get you. Theyâre not â theyâre just driving. Youâre the one making up a story inside your head thatâs making you angry and hurting your attitude and your body.
Look around and find something to appreciate or admire and let yourself off the hook. Youâll arrive in a much better mood, I promise.

What does success look like to you?
To me it would be a total takedown of my new big brother the Standard PoodleâŚheâs so tall I havenât figured out how to wrestle him to the ground yet!
Think about itâŚwhat does success look like to you?
You can let your mind play with that idea or if you know exactly what success is for you, write about it in your journal, paint it on your bedroom wall or maybe make a vision board of what your success looks like.
Knowing what youâre aiming for will help you get there, and turning your success into a creative project makes the journey more fun.
