How to Feel Your Feelings and Hog-Tie Them, Too! - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast

When was the last time you got white-hot angry?

Think about the actions you took while you were upset – were they good ones? Did you regret them later? Maybe even need to apologize to someone for what you did while mad? I know I have! I’ve written a hot email and sent it, later wishing I hadn’t.

When we’re very emotional, what we feel like doing and saying feels very righteous and justified.

In that moment.

Later, when you’ve had a chance to think about things more clearly, you still might need to have your say, and chances are you’ll be far more careful of the other person’s feelings. Let me share something with you that I learned the hard way: if you don’t control your emotions, your emotions will control you. And they don’t make good decisions.

Feel your feelings. Process your feelings. Then, if appropriate, act on your feelings from your calm, cool, adult self.
