Is someone you know a workaholic? Aside from their work, you don’t know what else they do besides eat and sleep? That’s the opposite of “work/life balance” and is detrimental to their wellbeing and probably to at least some aspects of their future.
Unless their work fulfills their every desire, they’re cutting themselves off from experiences and people that would add interest, enlightenment, and fun to their life.
There are many reasons someone might be a workaholic – extreme work ethic, problems in their personal life, misplaced priorities – and there’s never a good reason to squander relationships and fun in exchange for a paycheck.
If you know a workaholic, see if you can get them to come out and play with you now and then. If you are a workaholic, understand the damage you’re doing in the rest of your life, and maybe even in your work life. Take tiny steps at first, and start adding a bit of fun to every week.
