Someone Being Catty? Declaw Them! - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
Is there someone who acts like they don’t like you when you’re around?
I’ll never forget going on a girlfriend trip to New York. There were seven of us on the trip, and one of the women made a point of shunning the company of another. She sat as far away as possible at tables, took a different cab, and was caught a few times making catty remarks about the object of her disapproval.
Have you ever been the focus of something like that? It doesn’t feel good, does it?
If that ever happens to you, here’s how you can avoid the sting and amp up your own self-esteem: chin up, ignore, walk away.
Behavior like that is juvenile – that person is showing you who she is, not who you are. Since it’s clear the other person doesn’t care about your feelings, your opinion, and about you, give them the gift of your absence. If you absolutely must be together, give them the gift of your polite presence and put them on “ignore.”
You don’t have to interact with, or care about the opinions of, someone who disrespects you. Chin up, ignore, walk away.
