Do you watch those reality shows about one person choosing from a bevy of others? Maybe it’s a bachelor, surrounded by eligible women vying for his attention and affection.

They call those shows “reality” and yet they’re as contrived as they can possibly be, and they feed into and feature the worst human characteristics, not the best.

Have you ever been in a situation where the object of your affection was being courted by 11 other suitors, too? Of course not – the very premise of these shows flies in the face of reality. They set up a situation where the contestants are led to believe that they have to vie with each other, sometimes even defying their own personal ethics, to try to win the affections of the star so they can win the contest the show is built around.

Watch these shows if they entertain you, and resist the temptation to live vicariously through any of the players. My wish for you is real love, not a ridiculous farcical circus pretending to be love.
