Why Dogs are Wiser than Humans - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites
Do you have a dog?
Dogs have been part of my life since I was 8 years old and Dad brought home a tiny, warm nugget of fur, kisses, and a wagging tail. Unless you’re frightened of dogs, you’ve probably experienced the feeling of complete peace that sometimes happens when you and the dog are going for a walk.
Dogs are the world’s most charming example of how to live in the moment. They’re perfectly present – they’re smelling the smells, scanning for squirrels, and basking in the glow of being with you. Dogs know how to take in their environment as it is – no second-guessing about motives, stressing about something happening in the future, or wallowing in guilt or fear or regrets about the past. Dogs behave as if every day of their life is the best day they ever had.
What if we knew how to do that?
What if we could be so present in the present moment that we could enjoy every nuance of it, like dogs can? What if we could focus on the good things surrounding us, instead of automatically judging the people, sights, sounds, and even ourselves? For today, can you carve out a few minutes to try to be as wise as your dog?
