Do you run and hide when you’re about to cry? When you get mad, do you suck it up it and seethe inside when you’d rather let your anger fly?

Listen, this used to be me, too – I’d do anything not to cry in front of people, and perfected the fine art of a placid face when someone ticked me off.

I can promise you – that’s not the best way to deal with your emotions. When you bottle them up, it’s bad for your body. Emotions that are bottled up actually increase in intensity, pumping more adrenaline and cortisol into your bloodstream.

Protect the health of your body while protecting your mental wellbeing – let ‘em out. If someone makes you cry, let them see the tears. If someone disrespects you, let them hear it.

Your emotions are part of who you are, so hiding them hides the real you behind a façade. When you’re not being authentic, people don’t trust you because they know you’re not being real. Cry and rage if you need to, and then move on.
