How to Stop Victimizing Yourself - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites

Has life handed you a challenge where you feel like the victim?

Stop!

When you paint yourself as the victim, you are the ultimate loser. You can’t win when you’re feeling sorry for yourself, because you cut yourself off from avenues for growth and learning.

Sure, you might get some sympathy, which can feel good in the moment, but here’s what ultimately happens: those who feel sorry for you will eventually get tired of watching you go through the same problems again and again. They’ll get tired of offering you help and advice, only to watch you disregard their wisdom and do the same things again.

People will get tired of the drama and drift away, and that’s not what anyone wants.

The moment you notice thoughts of victimhood going on inside your brain, ask yourself this question: Do I want to wallow, or do I want to grow?

I hope you want to grow – if not, then I hope you have an endless supply of people willing to listen to you whine. And PS – is that how you really want to show up in the world?
