Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - How to Fit Learning Into Life

Have you been out of school for a while and you’re feeling a little bit left behind from a knowledge standpoint?

As children, teens, and young adults, we marinated in a structured learning environment, and once free from that structure, it’s easy to forget just how important learning is. The most successful people never let their desire to learn fall by the wayside. Once out of school and firmly ensconced in a career, it can feel like too much of a time commitment to keep structured education on your to-do list. That’s OK, though – according to Socrates, “Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” In other words, just the process of learning keeps the desire for more knowledge at the forefront.

Read trade journals. Attend seminars or webinars. Take online courses. Don’t give yourself a full college course load along with your 50-hour-workweek, just make a way to keep the flame of learning lit in your life, and reap the benefits of self-confidence, self-esteem, and success.
