What is creativity?

• If you remember your childhood, maybe creativity was making a paperweight for your dad out of a baby food jar and rocks, with gold spray paint for the rocks and the jar lid.
• Generation Alpha, the children born since 2010, might view creativity as using AI to create fun images from a simple cellphone pic.
• Creativity is also thinking outside the box to find a solution to a problem.

If you’re about to have to do something extremely wet and messy and you don’t want to soil your clothes, look around – maybe you can find a plastic table cloth or a large garbage bag to cover yourself and keep your clothes clean and dry.

Yes, that’s creativity. Creativity is more than just having fun making art, it’s an offshoot of play, so if you feel you need to be more creative, build time into your schedule for play. In addition to being a wonderful stress-reliever, play brings out the creative spirit in you.
