It’s good to be strong and resilient. You feel competent and purposeful when you’re being strong and resilient through a difficult job or difficult situation in your life.
It’s good to be strong and resilient…right up until it isn’t.
You might think that someone who believes in the power of wellbeing and happiness so strongly that she even put “happiness” in the company name will tell you to just get happy, no matter what you’re dealing with. Here’s what I know – eventually you will get happy again, and in the middle of a rough patch there will be moments of lighter spirits. They might even surprise you when they happen.
As humans we have a full range of emotions, from despair and powerlessness through anger, doubt, pessimism, hopefulness, all the way up to eagerness and joy. Those are all yours to feel as you move through that difficult job or situation. When you allow yourself to feel, you are making a healthier choice than if you just demand strength, resilience and happiness from yourself.
You’re human…feel your human feelings as you make your way to better feelings.
