“People might think I’m weird.”
“I might not get it right.”
“What if it turns out badly?”

So many people limit their own horizons because of thoughts like these. I’ve limited myself with those kinds of thoughts…I remember never wanting to do sports in school because I wanted to be good at it and feared I wasn’t.

Have you limited yourself too?

In a conversation with Mom when I was about 16 years old, I confided that I was afraid to go to the prom because what if I made a fool of myself in front of the cute boy who asked me? Mom answered simply, “what if you don’t?”

When the voice inside your head starts asking you limiting questions, take Mom’s words and use them to stop limiting yourself. Who cares if people think you’re weird, or if it isn’t perfect on the first try, or if it does turn out badly? Heck, even Albert Einstein took eight tries to mathematically prove the theory of relativity.

We’re human, which means we’ll get things wrong. The fun is in the trying and then trying to do better.
