Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Creating Acceptance of Yourself in Spite of Others

Is there someone in your life who tries to control you through their expectations of you?

It might be a parent or a boss or a friend – anyone. They might look at you after your latest hair appointment and it looks like they smelled something stinky. They might ignore your good work and point out your shortcomings on a project. They might make passive-aggressive comments about your weight or your car or your income.

Those people, if you let them, can gut your self-confidence, so don’t let them. If you’re in a relationship where you can voice your feelings about their behavior, do it. If not, when they try to control you through their disapproval, remind yourself that they are out of line and aren’t living your life.

You are living your life – you are in charge of you – and what you believe about yourself has nothing to do with what they think. PS…please let that last part sink in so you can move through your day and your life confidently, no matter how that judgmental person feels about you.
