What is it that makes one person be mean to another? What is it that makes one person constantly bully another? What is it that makes one person try to destroy another? 

It’s the same answer for all three questions – pain.

Insecure people, people who are afraid of losing out, and people who mount behind-the-back smear campaigns designed to ruin someone else’s reputation or chances for advancement are people who are in pain, maybe even mental anguish.

The truth is that people who behave like bullies and cut-throats are people who don’t know how to get what they want. They’re stuck in two-year-old behavior, throwing blocks and toy cars instead of sharing. The adult version of throwing blocks can look more like passive-aggressive comments, openly aggressive comments and behind-the-back smear campaigns, and yet it’s still throwing blocks.

Ignore their bad behavior, feel sorry for their lack of socialization and move on with your life.
