Do you ever feel like you’re living in fear?

  • Fear is normal – it’s a built-in survival trait, yet it can also make you feel paralyzed and unable to move forward.
  • Fear can sharpen your awareness, yet it can also keep you in a constant state of stress or anxiety.
  • Fear can spur you to step out of your comfort zone, yet it can also cause you to make irrational decisions.
  • Fear can increase your empathy towards others in a similar situation, yet fear can stop you from reaching your full potential.

Let me jump to the most obvious example - fear of dying doesn’t stop death, it stops life. When you are so fearful that your decisions are predicated on what you shouldn’t do or think or be or have, you might as well be dead, because you’re blocking your own progress and growth.

When you feel fear, ask yourself what you’re really afraid of? At the base of most peoples’ fear is one of these seven things: physical harm, the unknown, loss, lack of control, rejection, failure, and physical or emotional pain. Decide which one it is, then explore your options.

Find the positive in your feelings of fear and take the path that lets you learn, grow, and feel less fearful.
