How do you respond when something you really wanted doesn’t happen the way you thought it would or hoped it would or wanted it to? Do you feel badly for a few minutes, put it into perspective, and move on, or do you wallow in pity and sadness for hours, days, or even weeks or years?

When something disappoints you, you have no way of knowing if that’s the end of that story or just an interesting plot twist. Your mind will feed you all the bad possibilities, but they’re not reality. That’s just a guessing game you and your brain are indulging in and you can stop that once you realize how bad it feels and how stuck it keeps you.

The game of life is the epitome of the long game. You’ve already lived a long time and if all goes the way you’re planning, you’ll likely live a long time more. Stop treating minor setbacks like they’re major roadblocks. Repeat after me…life is a long game…life is a long game…life is a loooooooong game.
